After spending 12 years in the NBA and playing for seven different organizations, Patrick Beverly is officially out of the league. Instead of remaining in the states and signing a veteran minimum NBA contract, Beverly has opted to take his talents to Israel. For the next two seasons, Beverly will compete in the Israeli Basketball Premier League and Eurocup with Hapoel Tel Aviv BC.

According to the 36-year-old pro, “They (Hapoel Tel Aviv BC) gave me everything I asked for. I couldn’t refuse.” Beverly signed a two-year, $4 million contract with the club on Tuesday and will likely call it a career at the conclusion of the 2025-26 Israeli Basketball Premier League/Eurocup season. Prior to joining the NBA in 2013, Beverly played in Ukraine, Greece and Russia to kick off his professional basketball career. Despite not being a dangerous offensive threat once he inked a standard NBA contract with the Houston Rockets in 2012, Beverly managed to hang around for the league for over a decade by making valuable defensive contributions. He’s known for tormenting opposing guards with his relentless pressure and active hands for 20+ minutes. Beverly’s outstanding 109.7 career defensive rating demonstrates that he succeeded in earning his money on the defensive end of the floor.

While Beverly will experience a drastic change of scenery in 2024-25, he should feel ecstatic knowing that he’ll be playing for an overseas team who clearly respects his skill set.
